This began with a project to\u00a0develop online introductory materials, for applicants to Waste Management courses to use before their\u00a0taught course\u00a0started.<\/p>\n<p>The team used a range of tools, including NILE and Wimba Create, to build an informative, interactive site for incoming students to use. The resources were based on the team&#8217;s previous research into induction of distance learners. These materials can be seen in the <a href=\"http:\/\/nile.northampton.ac.uk\/webapps\/portal\/frameset.jsp?tab_tab_group_id=_4_1&amp;url=\/webapps\/blackboard\/execute\/courseMain?course_id=_9454_1\" target=\"_blank\">guest access NILE site<\/a> for the course.<\/p>\n<p>The project was\u00a0a success and led to the project team &#8211; Ruth Copeland-Phillips, Paul Cox and Louise Maxwell\u00a0 &#8211; gaining a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northampton.ac.uk\/info\/20278\/continuing-professional-development\/234\/university-teaching-fellowships\/2\" target=\"_blank\">Teaching Fellowship<\/a> award.
