{"id":41,"date":"2023-12-01T19:40:02","date_gmt":"2023-12-01T19:40:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.northampton.ac.uk\/it\/?p=41"},"modified":"2023-12-01T19:40:02","modified_gmt":"2023-12-01T19:40:02","slug":"how-to-manage-your-emails-with-mimecast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.northampton.ac.uk\/it\/2023\/12\/01\/how-to-manage-your-emails-with-mimecast\/","title":{"rendered":"How to manage your emails with Mimecast"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to manage your emails with Mimecast<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Within Outlook, Mimecast provides you several options for managing your emails, which are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Report an email as phishing\/ spam<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a message is reported as phishing or spam using Mimecast for Outlook, it automatically triggers the following actions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The selected email is moved from your inbox to the junk email folder.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The sender of the message is added to your \u2018Blocked Senders\u2019 list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The message is forwarded to the IT Security Team for analysis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This can be done by clicking on the following buttons, which are accessible in the ribbon at the top of the screen in Outlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"234\" height=\"119\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northampton.ac.uk\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2023\/12\/Reporting-phishing.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Managing Senders<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As can be seen in the above image, you also have the option in Outlook to manage the list of addresses that are allowed to contact you.&nbsp; When reporting an email as phishing or spam the address is automatically added to your Blocked Senders list.&nbsp; Should you have accidentally added an email to this list you can manage that from here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Adding an email address to your Blocked Senders list<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From Outlook, click on the Managed Senders button.&nbsp; This will open the Mimecast sidebar. &nbsp;Select the \u2018Blocked\u2019 list.&nbsp; Alternatively, this can be done from the Mimecast web portal (<a href=\"https:\/\/login-uk.mimecast.com\/\">https:\/\/login-uk.mimecast.com\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"267\" height=\"258\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northampton.ac.uk\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2023\/12\/Mimecast.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From here, click the + icon to bring up the following screen where you can enter the email address or domain you wish to block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"343\" height=\"327\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.northampton.ac.uk\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2023\/12\/Blocked-senders.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-42\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.northampton.ac.uk\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2023\/12\/Blocked-senders.png 343w, https:\/\/blogs.northampton.ac.uk\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2023\/12\/Blocked-senders-300x286.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.northampton.ac.uk\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2023\/12\/Blocked-senders-315x300.png 315w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 343px) 100vw, 343px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sending emails directly to IT Security<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would prefer to email the message directly to IT Security for review you can email <a href=\"mailto:phishing@northampton.ac.uk\">phishing@northampton.ac.uk<\/a>.
